VMO-2 operated from Da Nang Air Base during the Vietnam War, flying OV-10A Broncos, UH-1E Hueys, and AH-1G Cobras on observation, forward air control, and armed escort missions throughout I Corps Tactical Zone. Da Nang was the primary Marine aviation hub in Vietnam, and VMO-2 flew daily missions from its crowded flight line into some of the most heavily contested areas of South Vietnam. This Da Nang deployment patch marks VMO-2's time at the heart of Marine aviation operations in Vietnam.
