From the earliest days of Marine helicopter operations in Korea, where HMR-161 pioneered combat helicopter assault at the Battle of the Punchbowl in 1951, to today's global expeditionary operations, Marine helicopter crews have embodied the spirit of being always airborne, always moving, always rotating.
The Marine Corps helicopter community encompasses an extraordinary range of missions: assault support with MV-22 Ospreys, heavy lift with CH-53E Super Stallions and CH-53K King Stallions, light attack and armed reconnaissance with AH-1Z Vipers, and utility transport with UH-1Y Venoms.
