Official VMR-1 Pedro Sundown Patch — USMC Search and Rescue CH-46 Sea Knight Commemorative Embroidered Patch
Sundown on the Phrog — this patch commemorates the end of an era for the CH-46 in the SAR mission at Cherry Point.
VMR-1 was the Marine Corps' station search and rescue (SAR) and base flight squadron at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina. The squadron operated the CH-46 Sea Knight in the SAR role — standing alert 24/7 to rescue downed aviators and respond to emergencies across the Cherry Point operating area. The "Pedro" callsign is the universal SAR helicopter callsign used across military aviation, and VMR-1's Pedro crews maintained the sacred promise that if you went down, someone was coming to get you. This patch commemorates the sunset of the CH-46 in the Cherry Point SAR mission — the end of an era for the Phrog in one of its most important roles.
Perfect For:
VMR-1 personnel and alumni, Cherry Point SAR crews, CH-46 Sea Knight veterans, Marine Corps search and rescue community members, and Phrog sunset commemorative patch collectors.
