The Plane Captain (PC) is one of the most important qualification levels in Marine Corps aviation maintenance, designating the Marine who is directly responsible for the pre-flight, post-flight, and turnaround inspections of an individual aircraft. On the MV-22 Osprey, the Plane Captain is the enlisted Marine who "owns" the aircraft on the flight line — conducting walk-around inspections, servicing fluids, verifying all systems are operational, and marshaling the aircraft for launch and recovery. No Osprey moves without the Plane Captain's approval.
