Officially Licensed USMC VMM-266 Fighting Griffin PVC Patch — PVC Patch
Griffin Up
The Fighting Griffins don't just fly missions — they own them. VMM-266's PVC patch brings the squadron's fierce mascot to life in durable, weather-resistant form, built to survive the same conditions the Griffins operate in. If you've served with the 266 at New River, deployed aboard an amphib, or flown the Osprey in combat, this patch marks you as part of one of the Marine Corps' most battle-tested tiltrotor squadrons.
VMM-266 was activated in April 1983 at MCAS New River, North Carolina, and quickly established itself as the cold weather assault support experts for 2nd MAW. Originally flying the CH-46E Sea Knight as HMM-266, the Fighting Griffins became the first CH-46E squadron from II MEF to deploy to Southwest Asia during Desert Shield, arriving in Jubail, Saudi Arabia on January 4, 1991. The squadron flew combat support missions from Combat Outpost Lonesome Dove through the end of Desert Storm. Through the 1990s, the Griffins deployed to Somalia, Haiti, and the Balkans. In 2007, VMM-266 became the third operational Osprey unit in the Marine Corps, and has since deployed to Iraq, Spain, and Djibouti, where they logged over 1,900 flight hours and transported more than 1.3 million pounds of cargo across East Africa.
Perfect For:
