Officially Licensed USMC VMM-264 Black Knights Plank Owner 2025 Squadron Patch — Embroidered Patch

Original Knights of the Reactivation

A plank owner is the first crew of a new ship — or in this case, the Marines who stood up a reactivated squadron. This VMM-264 Black Knights Plank Owner 2025 patch marks the Marines and Sailors who were present for the historic reactivation of one of the Marine Corps' most storied tiltrotor squadrons, bringing the Black Knights back to operational status after a five-year hiatus.

VMM-264, the Black Knights, was originally activated on June 30, 1959, and built a distinguished record spanning over six decades of service. The squadron flew UH-34s, CH-46 Sea Knights, and MV-22 Ospreys, participating in operations from the Dominican Republic in 1965 to Hurricane Katrina relief in 2005, combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and humanitarian assistance in Liberia during the Ebola crisis. The Black Knights were deactivated on June 24, 2020, under Force Design initiatives, but an analysis of force management identified the need for an additional VMM squadron on the east coast. VMM-264 was reactivated at MCAS New River under MAG-26 and 2nd MAW, and the Plank Owner designation belongs exclusively to the Marines who brought the Black Knights back to life.

Perfect For:
VMM-264 reactivation personnel, Black Knights Plank Owners, MAG-26 members, 2nd MAW Marines, MCAS New River aviators, and squadron reactivation commemorators

Black Knights reborn. Plank Owner forever.
