The Dragons of MASS-3 are the West Coast's direct air support coordination center, connecting the ground combat element to the devastating firepower of 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. This officially licensed patch represents the Marines who ensure close air support arrives on target, on time, every time.

Marine Air Support Squadron 3, the Dragons, operates the Direct Air Support Center for the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, providing the critical command and control link between ground units and aviation assets. Based at MCAS Miramar, MASS-3 Marines process immediate air requests, coordinate close air support missions, manage helicopter support teams, and synchronize the employment of Marine aviation in support of ground operations. The Dragons ensure that the 3rd MAW's considerable combat power is responsive to the needs of the Marine on the ground.
