HMLA-367 Scarface is one of the most iconic light attack helicopter squadrons in Marine aviation, and this throwback Hover Cover patch celebrates the squadron's legacy with vintage style and attack helicopter attitude. HMLA-367 operates the AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom from their home at MCAS Camp Pendleton under Marine Aircraft Group 39 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. The "Scarface" callsign has been synonymous with aggressive close air support and armed escort missions since the squadron's Vietnam-era origins. The Hover Cover concept — providing armed helicopter coverage for transport and utility aircraft during insertions and extractions — has been a core HMLA mission since the earliest days of Marine rotary-wing warfare.
