HMHT-302, the Phoenix, is the Marine Corps' Fleet Replacement Squadron for the CH-53 helicopter platform, based at MCAS New River, North Carolina. The squadron trains every newly designated CH-53 pilot, conversion pilot, refresher pilot, and enlisted aircrew member — producing the heavy-lift aviators and crew chiefs that keep the Marine Corps' biggest helicopter operational. With over 82,000 Class A mishap-free flight hours in H-53 helicopters, the Phoenix has an extraordinary safety record while running one of the most demanding training pipelines in Marine aviation. This cancer awareness PVC patch puts the iconic Phoenix insignia in pink, supporting cancer awareness while representing one of the most important training squadrons in the Corps.
