This patch represents the Marines who ensure that safety and standardization are never compromised.
HMLAT-303, the Atlas, serves as the Marine Corps' H-1 Fleet Replacement Squadron, training all new AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom pilots and maintainers. The Department of Safety and Standards (DOSS) is responsible for maintaining the highest safety standards in fleet replacement training — overseeing standardization evaluations, managing the Natops program, conducting safety investigations, and ensuring that every Marine who graduates from HMLAT-303 meets the exacting standards required to operate in combat. DOSS Marines are the quality assurance backbone of H-1 training.
