Official HMLAT-303 Light Attack Huey & Cobra Patch — Embroidered Patch
Where Vipers and Venoms Are Born
Every AH-1Z Viper pilot and UH-1Y Venom crew member in the Marine Corps passes through HMLAT-303. This patch honors the Atlas squadron — the fleet replacement squadron that transforms newly winged naval aviators into combat-ready light attack and utility helicopter pilots. If you wear skid wings, your journey started here.
HMLAT-303, based at MCAS Camp Pendleton, is the sole fleet replacement squadron for the Marine Corps' H-1 platform. The squadron operates both the AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter and UH-1Y Venom utility helicopter, training pilots in weapons employment, tactical maneuvers, formation flight, night operations, and the full spectrum of light attack and utility missions. The training syllabus is demanding by design — it must produce pilots capable of flying into combat on their first deployment. HMLAT-303 instructors are experienced fleet pilots who bring combat expertise from HMLA squadrons worldwide, ensuring that every graduate carries the tactical knowledge and flying skills needed to lead in the most dangerous environments Marine aviation encounters.
Perfect For:
HMLAT-303 graduates and instructors, AH-1Z and UH-1Y pilots, HMLA squadron members, Marine light attack aviation enthusiasts, Camp Pendleton aviators, and skid community patch collectors
The Atlas builds warriors. The fleet unleashes them.
