HMR-363 was the helicopter transport squadron designation of the "Lucky Red Lions," which would later redesignate through HMM-363 and eventually HMH-363 as the Marine Corps reorganized its helicopter force. In the HMR era, the Lucky Red Lions operated early transport helicopters, building the foundation of vertical envelopment doctrine that would define Marine Corps aviation. This patch preserves the squadron's transport-era identity.
