Officially Licensed HMM-362 Archie's Angels Patch — USMC Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron Legacy Embroidered Patch
"Archie's Angels" — the nickname that HMM-362 carried before they became the Ugly Angels.
HMM-362 was originally known as "Archie's Angels," named after Lieutenant Colonel Archie Clapp, who led the squadron during its earliest operations in Vietnam. In April 1962, HMM-362 became the first Marine helicopter squadron to deploy to Vietnam as part of Operation Shufly, flying UH-34D Seahorses out of Soc Trang in the Mekong Delta. Archie's Angels conducted the first Marine combat helicopter operations of the Vietnam War, establishing the precedent for the massive Marine helicopter commitment that would follow. This patch preserves the original identity of the squadron that started it all.
Perfect For:
HMM-362 Archie's Angels Vietnam veterans, Operation Shufly participants, UH-34D Seahorse crews, Marine helicopter Vietnam pioneers, and USMC Vietnam-era legacy patch collectors.
