**Officially Licensed USMC HMM-265 Dragons Sticker — Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
The Dragons — first in the fleet with the CH-46 Sea Knight, and they took it straight into combat at Marble Mountain. HMM-265 has been breathing fire since 1962.
HMM-265, the "Dragons," was commissioned on October 1, 1962, at MCAF New River, North Carolina. Originally flying the UH-34, the squadron deployed to Memphis, Tennessee shortly after commissioning in support of the Mississippi Crisis — a critical moment in the civil rights movement. In 1964, HMM-265 became the first Fleet Marine Force squadron to receive the CH-46A Sea Knight helicopter, and by February 1966 had logged 10,000 accident-free hours in the new airframe. Deploying to Vietnam in May 1966, the Dragons flew from Marble Mountain Air Facility near Da Nang, supporting Operations Hastings and Prairie under intense enemy fire. Twenty-seven HMM-265 Marines gave their lives in Vietnam. Now redesignated VMM-265, the Dragons fly MV-22 Ospreys from MCAS Futenma, Okinawa.
