HMM-164 "Knightriders" was one of the Marine Corps' most combat-experienced medium helicopter squadrons, with a lineage that includes the first CH-46 Sea Knights into Vietnam in 1966. The Knightriders flew combat missions throughout the war and continued to serve through decades of peacetime and contingency operations until transitioning to the MV-22B Osprey as VMM-164.
