**Officially Licensed USMC HMLA-269 Gunrunners Full Color Squadron Sticker — Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
The Marine Corps' first designated attack helicopter squadron — and still running guns. Eight times Squadron of the Year. The Gunrunners set the standard and then kept raising it.
HMLA-269, "The Gunrunners," was activated on July 1, 1971, at MCAS New River, North Carolina, as the Marine Corps' first designated attack helicopter squadron, equipped with the AH-1J Sea Cobra. The Gunrunners pioneered attack helicopter tactics, fired the first TOW anti-tank missile from an airborne Marine platform, and launched a Sidewinder air-to-air missile from a Cobra — all firsts. During Desert Storm, they conducted critical close-in fire support and the Faylaka Island raid. In 2003, the squadron flew nearly 3,000 combat hours in 55 days during OIF with zero personnel losses. Recognized eight times as the Marine Corps' Light Attack Helicopter Squadron of the Year — more than any other HMLA — the Gunrunners deactivated briefly in 2022 under Force Design 2030 before being reactivated at MCAS New River on July 1, 2024, now flying AH-1Z Vipers and UH-1Y Venoms under MAG-29 and 2nd MAW.
