Official HMLA-267 11th MEU Skid DET PVC Patch — Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267 Stingers 11th MEU Skid Detachment PVC Patch
The Stingers' Skid DET — HMLA-267's AH-1 and UH-1 detachment deployed with the 11th MEU, bringing the skid team's lethal combination of attack and utility helicopter power to the Amphibious Ready Group.
This PVC patch represents the Skid Detachment from Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267 (HMLA-267), the "Stingers," deployed as part of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (11th MEU). The Skid DET is the light attack and utility helicopter component of the MEU's Aviation Combat Element (ACE), operating the AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom (previously the AH-1W Super Cobra and UH-1N Huey) from the flight deck of the MEU's amphibious assault ship.
The AH-1 and UH-1 "Skid" team is one of the most lethal and versatile combinations in Marine aviation. The AH-1 provides close air support, armed escort, armed reconnaissance, and anti-armor capability with its 20mm cannon, Hellfire missiles, and 2.75-inch rockets, while the UH-1 provides utility transport, command and control, casualty evacuation, and additional fire support. Together, the skid team gives the MEU commander an organic aviation strike capability that can be launched from ship or shore within minutes of receiving a mission.
HMLA-267 Stingers are based at MCAS Camp Pendleton and regularly contribute detachments to West Coast MEUs, bringing the squadron's light attack expertise to the expeditionary force.
Perfect For: HMLA-267 Stingers members, 11th MEU Skid DET deployers, AH-1 and UH-1 community members, MEU aviation combat element personnel, and Marine skid team PVC patch collectors.
HMLA-267 Stingers Skid DET — the 11th MEU's fangs in the air, ready to sting from the ship or the shore.
