**Officially Licensed USMC HMH-366 Hammerheads Black/Gray Patch — Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron Embroidered Patch**
HMH-366 Hammerheads — named after the massive hammerhead sharks that patrol Kaneohe Bay, this was the only Hawaiian-born helicopter squadron in the Marine Corps. From paradise to Iraq and Afghanistan, these Super Stallion crews hauled everything the Marines needed into the fight.
Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 366 (HMH-366) was commissioned on 30 September 1994 at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, as the fourth active CH-53D Sea Stallion squadron. The "Hammerheads" callsign was inspired by Kaneohe Bay's famous hammerhead shark population, and the original unit patch featured a shark leaping over an airborne CH-53D. The squadron supported exercises across the Pacific, including presidential support missions to Bangladesh, before being deactivated on 1 October 2000 when CH-53D availability declined. HMH-366 was reactivated on 30 September 2008 under MAG-29 at MCAS Cherry Point, this time flying the powerful CH-53E Super Stallion. The Hammerheads deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009-2010 and completed two Afghanistan deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom — the second being the final HMH deployment of that operation. The squadron also participated in Exercise Trident Juncture and Cold Response in Norway. HMH-366 was decommissioned on 16 December 2022 as part of Force Design 2030.
