Officially Licensed HMA-369 Gunfighters Patch — Marine Attack Helicopter Squadron Legacy Embroidered Patch
The Gunfighters — Cobra attack pilots who wrote the book on Marine rotary-wing close air support.
HMA-369 "Gunfighters" was a Marine attack helicopter squadron that operated AH-1 Cobras from MCAS Camp Pendleton, California, under MAG-39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. The Gunfighters were one of the Marine Corps' dedicated Cobra attack squadrons during the era when attack and utility helicopters were organized separately. HMA-369 provided close air support, anti-armor, helicopter escort, and fire suppression for Marine ground forces, deploying aboard amphibious ships and to forward operating locations. The squadron later redesignated as HMLA-369 when the Marine Corps merged attack and utility helicopter assets, and the Gunfighters continue to serve today flying AH-1Z Vipers and UH-1Y Venoms. This patch preserves the original HMA-era Gunfighters identity.
