Officially Licensed HMA-169 Vipers Sticker — Marine Attack Helicopter Squadron 169 Vinyl Sticker
The Vipers — skid kids delivering the sting from the AH-1 Cobra.
Marine Attack Helicopter Squadron 169 (HMA-169), the "Vipers," was a Marine Corps attack helicopter squadron that flew the AH-1 Cobra in the light attack mission — providing armed escort, close air support, and anti-armor capability for Marine ground forces. The Vipers were part of the "skid kid" community — the pilots and crews who flew the single-engine, skid-landing-gear attack helicopters that became synonymous with Marine close-in fire support from the Vietnam era through the modern day.
The AH-1 Cobra revolutionized the helicopter's role on the battlefield when it entered service in the late 1960s. Unlike utility helicopters pressed into the gunship role, the Cobra was purpose-built for attack — a narrow, fast, and heavily armed platform designed from the ground up to find and destroy enemy targets. HMA-169's Vipers carried TOW missiles, 20mm cannons, and rocket pods, providing the MAGTF commander with a responsive and lethal fire support platform that could operate in terrain where fixed-wing aircraft couldn't go. The Vipers' legacy lives on in today's HMLA squadrons flying the AH-1Z Viper — the latest evolution of the Marine Corps' attack helicopter.
Perfect For:
HMA-169 Vipers veterans, AH-1 Cobra pilots and crews, Marine light attack helicopter community members, skid kid enthusiasts, and USMC attack helicopter sticker collectors.
