VMF(AW)-314 "Black Knights" was the all-weather fighter squadron designation that preceded today's VMFA-314 "Black Knights," one of the Marine Corps' most storied fighter squadrons. The Black Knights flew all-weather fighters during the Korean War and early Cold War, providing night and instrument weather interception. The squadron later transitioned to the F-4 Phantom II and eventually the F/A-18 Hornet, carrying the Black Knight identity through every generation of Marine fighters.
