Naval Air Station Meridian, located in Meridian, Mississippi, is one of the Navy's two primary jet pilot training bases. The station hosts Training Air Wing One and its subordinate squadrons, which operate the T-45C Goshawk to train the next generation of Navy and Marine Corps fighter and attack pilots. Student Naval Aviators at Meridian progress through intermediate and advanced jet training, mastering formation flying, instrument procedures, and carrier qualification before earning their wings of gold.
