The 1st Recruit Training Battalion at MCRD Parris Island conducts the full 13-week recruit training cycle, transforming civilians into basically trained Marines through a demanding program of physical training, marksmanship, close-order drill, academic instruction, and the legendary Crucible. The battalion's Drill Instructors are among the most respected Marines in the Corps.
