HSM-37 was established on 3 July 1975 at Naval Air Station Barbers Point, Hawaii, as Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light Three Seven, making it one of the Navy's longest-serving rotary-wing squadrons. The squadron made history in 1992 as the first U.S. Navy unit to transition from the SH-2F Seasprite to the SH-60B Seahawk, and it moved to Marine Corps Base Hawaii on Kaneohe Bay in February 1999. Redesignated HSM-37 on 1 October 2013, the Easyriders completed a full transition to the MH-60R Seahawk and today stand as the largest expeditionary helicopter squadron in the U.S. Navy. The squadron provides MH-60R detachments for all Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and Ticonderoga-class cruisers homeported at Pearl Harbor, executing anti-submarine warfare, surface warfare, search and rescue, and vertical replenishment missions across the Indo-Pacific.
