The Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center, located at Naval Air Station Fallon in Nevada, is the United States Navy's center of excellence for advanced air combat training and tactics development. Within its ten departments, the N2 Intelligence Directorate stands as one of the command's most operationally critical functions. The department provides intelligence support to air wing training at Fallon as well as to fleets and battle groups deployed around the world. Targeting and weapons experts work alongside enlisted intelligence specialists to gather data on potential trouble areas globally, preparing aircrews for every circumstance they may face in combat. The directorate also trains carrier air wing intelligence officers and targeteers, integrating signals intelligence and human intelligence into curricula through Carrier Vehicle Intelligence Center systems. Contingency preparation and post-exercise analysis round out a mission set that directly shapes how naval aviation tactics are refined and disseminated to the fleet. NAWDC itself was renamed from the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center in June 2015 and carries the lineage of TOPGUN, Strike University, and TOPDOME under one command. An Intelligence patch from this command marks a specific, serious function inside the Navy's most demanding aviation training environment.
