Official HSC-8 Eightballers Christmas Patches — A Holiday Tradition From the Seahawk Community at NAS North Island
Even the Eightballers take a break from combat logistics and search and rescue to celebrate the season.
Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 8 (HSC-8) — the 'Eightballers' — is a United States Navy helicopter squadron flying the MH-60S Seahawk multi-mission helicopter out of Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, California. The Eightballers are part of the Navy's helicopter sea combat community, conducting combat logistics, search and rescue, special operations support, anti-surface warfare, mine countermeasures, and humanitarian assistance operations from the decks of aircraft carriers, amphibious assault ships, and combat logistics force vessels. HSC-8 is assigned to Carrier Air Wing 9 and deploys aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), providing the carrier strike group with the vertical lift, cargo transfer, and personnel recovery capabilities that keep the strike group operating at sea. The MH-60S is the Navy's primary utility and combat support helicopter, equipped with crew-served weapons, forward-looking infrared sensors, cargo hooks for vertical replenishment, rescue hoists for personnel recovery, and the ability to conduct mine countermeasures with the Airborne Mine Neutralization System. The Eightballers have deployed throughout the Pacific, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific, supporting carrier operations, humanitarian relief, and combat logistics in every major Navy deployment cycle. This Christmas patch brings a festive touch to a squadron that spends much of the year at sea keeping the carrier strike group supplied, supported, and ready to fight.
Perfect For: HSC-8 Eightballers aircrew and maintainers, MH-60S Seahawk community members, CVW-9 and NAS North Island personnel, USS Abraham Lincoln Sailors, and anyone who celebrates the holidays with the helicopter sea combat community.
