Official HSM-72 Proud Warriors Christmas Patches — A Holiday Tradition From the Seahawk Community at NAS Jacksonville
Even submarine hunters and surface warriors take a moment to celebrate the season.
Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 72 (HSM-72) — the 'Proud Warriors' — is a United States Navy helicopter squadron flying the MH-60R Seahawk multi-mission helicopter out of Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. The Proud Warriors are part of the Navy's helicopter maritime strike community, conducting anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, search and rescue, medical evacuation, and maritime interdiction operations from the decks of cruisers, destroyers, and aircraft carriers. HSM-72 deploys detachments aboard surface combatants across the fleet, providing the ship's captain with an organic airborne sensor and weapons platform that can detect and engage submarines, track surface contacts, and provide over-the-horizon targeting for the ship's weapons systems. The MH-60R is the Navy's most capable multi-mission helicopter, equipped with AN/APS-153 multi-mode radar, FLIR, sonobuoys, dipping sonar, Mk-54 torpedoes, AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, and machine guns. The Proud Warriors have deployed throughout the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Persian Gulf, and Indo-Pacific, supporting carrier strike groups and surface action groups in peacetime and combat operations. This Christmas patch brings a festive touch to a squadron that spends much of its time deployed at sea — a holiday tradition for the pilots, aircrew, and maintainers who keep the Seahawks flying year-round.
Perfect For: HSM-72 Proud Warriors aircrew and maintainers, MH-60R Seahawk community members, NAS Jacksonville personnel, surface combatant Sailors who have hosted HSM-72 detachments, and anyone who celebrates the holidays with the helicopter maritime strike community.
