VT-9 Tigers Squadron Patch — Training Squadron Nine Embroidered Patch
Striking with precision from the training fields of Meridian.
Training Squadron Nine (VT-9) "Tigers" is a United States Navy training squadron based at Naval Air Station Meridian, Mississippi. VT-9 plays a critical role in the naval aviation training pipeline, providing intermediate and advanced strike training to student naval aviators who are destined for the tactical jet pipeline. The Tigers are part of Training Air Wing One (TW-1), producing the next generation of fighter and attack pilots for the Navy and Marine Corps.
VT-9 operates the T-45C Goshawk, the Navy's advanced jet trainer derived from the British Aerospace Hawk. Students assigned to VT-9 have already completed primary flight training and been selected for the strike fighter track — the most competitive and demanding pipeline in naval aviation. At NAS Meridian, Tiger students master formation flying, air combat maneuvering, weapons delivery, carrier qualification, and the complex tactical skills needed to fly the F/A-18 Super Hornet, F-35C Lightning II, and EA-18G Growler in the fleet. Every sortie with VT-9 brings these future fleet aviators one step closer to their Wings of Gold.
The Tigers name reflects the aggressive, predatory mindset that the squadron instills in every student who passes through its ranks.
Perfect For: VT-9 Tigers alumni, T-45 Goshawk pilots, NAS Meridian personnel, naval aviation training pipeline enthusiasts, and jet training squadron collectors.
