VT-28 Rangers is a U.S. Navy primary flight training squadron based at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas, operating under Training Air Wing Four and the Chief of Naval Air Training. Commissioned on May 1, 1960 from Advanced Training Unit 611, the Rangers have spent more than six decades building the fundamental skills every naval aviator carries to the fleet. The squadron's aircraft lineage runs from the Grumman S-2 Tracker variants of the early 1960s through the T-44A Pegasus turboprop, and into the current T-6B Texan II — a single-engine, ejection-seat aircraft that defines the modern primary syllabus.
