As the Gladiators, VFA-106 is responsible for training every newly winged strike fighter pilot and weapons systems officer before they join operational fleet squadrons. The squadron's mission is foundational to naval aviation — without VFA-106's rigorous training pipeline, the carrier air wings simply cannot generate combat-ready aircrews.
