Officially Licensed US Navy Training Wing-4 Patch — Training Air Wing Four Embroidered Patch
Where wings are earned over the waters of South Texas—Training Air Wing Four, the command that produces Navy and Marine Corps aviators at NAS Corpus Christi.
Training Air Wing Four (TW-4), also known as Commander Training Air Wing Four (CTW-4), is a United States Navy command responsible for primary and intermediate flight training of student naval aviators at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas. As one of the training air wings under the Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA), TW-4 oversees the training squadrons that conduct primary flight training in the T-6B Texan II and multi-engine training in the T-44C Pegasus, producing the pilots who will go on to fly everything from P-8A Poseidons to C-130 Hercules in the fleet.
NAS Corpus Christi has been a cornerstone of naval aviation training since its commissioning on 12 March 1941, when the base was established as part of the massive expansion of the naval aviation training program in the lead-up to World War II. The station's ideal flying weather—with more than 300 flyable days per year—gentle terrain, and proximity to overwater training areas in the Gulf of Mexico make it one of the premier flight training locations in the world. Thousands of naval aviators have earned their Wings of Gold through the training pipeline at Corpus Christi, from World War II through the present day.
Training Air Wing Four's subordinate squadrons conduct the Contact, Instrument, Formation, and Navigation phases of primary flight training, building the foundational aviation skills that every naval aviator will carry throughout their career. Student aviators from the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and allied nations pass through TW-4's program, receiving approximately 130 hours of flight training before advancing to their respective advanced training pipelines. The wing's instructor pilots are experienced fleet aviators who return to the training command to pass on their operational knowledge to the next generation.
Perfect For: Training Air Wing Four members and instructors, NAS Corpus Christi-based aviators, CNATRA training command personnel, student naval aviators, T-6B Texan II and T-44C Pegasus community members, and naval aviation training enthusiasts.
