Officially Licensed US Navy VP-28 Hawaiian Warriors Patch — Patrol Squadron Twenty-Eight P-3 Orion Embroidered Patch
Hawaiian Warriors — patrolling the Pacific with aloha spirit.
Patrol Squadron Twenty-Eight (VP-28) "Hawaiian Warriors" was a United States Navy maritime patrol squadron that operated the P-3 Orion from Hawaii, carrying the warrior spirit of the Hawaiian Islands into the vast Pacific Ocean. The Hawaiian Warriors were one of the Navy's dedicated anti-submarine warfare and maritime patrol squadrons, tasked with hunting submarines and monitoring surface traffic across the enormous Pacific theater.
VP-28 flew the Lockheed P-3 Orion on long-range maritime patrol missions from their Hawaiian base, covering millions of square miles of Pacific Ocean in search of hostile submarines and gathering intelligence on surface vessels. The squadron's Hawaii basing placed them at the strategic crossroads of the Pacific, within striking distance of potential submarine threats approaching from Asia. Hawaiian Warriors crews flew grueling 10-12 hour missions at low altitude over open ocean, deploying sonobuoys and using magnetic anomaly detection equipment to locate and track submarines lurking beneath the waves. Though the squadron has been deactivated, VP-28's legacy as one of Hawaii's maritime patrol squadrons lives on.
This patch preserves the memory of the Hawaiian Warriors.
Perfect For: VP-28 Hawaiian Warriors veterans, P-3 Orion enthusiasts, Hawaii-based naval aviation personnel, and deactivated patrol squadron collectors.
