Electronic Attack Squadron 133 (VAQ-133) — the 'Wizards' — is one of the United States Navy's premier electronic warfare squadrons, flying the EA-18G Growler from NAS Whidbey Island, Washington. The Wizards have been at the forefront of airborne electronic attack since their establishment, suppressing enemy air defenses and jamming hostile radar and communications systems to clear the way for strike packages. In 2024, VAQ-133 made history as the first squadron to deploy with the ALQ-249 Next-Generation Jammer (NGJ) aboard USS Abraham Lincoln — a quantum leap in electronic warfare capability that will define the future of the EA-18G community for decades to come. During that same deployment, Growlers from the air wing scored the platform's first air-to-air kill against a Houthi drone in the Red Sea, demonstrating that the Growler is far more than a support aircraft. This shoulder patch represents the Wizards and the crews who fly one of the most technically demanding missions in naval aviation — operating complex electronic warfare systems while maneuvering a tactical jet in hostile airspace.
