Officially Licensed US Navy VAQ-140 Patriots Stickers — Electronic Warfare From the Prowler to the Growler, and 117 HARMs Over Yugoslavia
When the enemy turns on a radar, the Patriots make sure it's the last time.
Electronic Attack Squadron 140 (VAQ-140) — the 'Patriots' — is one of the United States Navy's most combat-seasoned electronic warfare squadrons, currently flying the EA-18G Growler out of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington, and attached to Carrier Air Wing 7. Established on October 1, 1985, VAQ-140 was immediately tasked with evaluating and testing the AGM-88 High-speed Anti-Radiation Missile and became the first Prowler squadron to operationally deploy with HARM, taking the weapon aboard USS John F. Kennedy in August 1986. The Patriots made their combat debut during Operation Desert Shield aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1991, returned to the Persian Gulf for Operation Southern Watch, and in May 1994 deployed aboard USS George Washington to participate in the 50th D-Day Anniversary before supporting operations over Iraq and Bosnia. In 1999, during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in support of Operation Allied Force, the Patriots assumed command of Electronic Attack Wing Aviano — 100 aircrew and 300 support personnel — and flew over 740 combat missions and 3,300 flight hours, firing 117 HARMs against enemy air defense systems and earning a Navy Unit Commendation Medal. VAQ-140 went on to achieve 100% combat sortie completion rates during deployments in support of the Iraq War from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and aboard USS George Washington, made history on November 9, 2006, when two Patriot jets flew simultaneous combat missions in two different combat zones — one over Iraq and one over Afghanistan — and supported NATO operations over Libya from Aviano in 2011 with another 100% sortie completion rate. The squadron completed transition from the legendary EA-6B Prowler to the EA-18G Growler in July 2014 and has since deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve against ISIS in Iraq and Syria. With a callsign of 'Talon' and over 30 years of Class A mishap-free flying, the Patriots represent the cutting edge of carrier-based electronic warfare.
Perfect For: VAQ-140 Patriots aircrew and maintainers past and present, EA-18G Growler and EA-6B Prowler community members, CVW-7 personnel, NAS Whidbey Island Sailors, electronic warfare officers, and anyone who respects a squadron that has been jamming, targeting, and destroying enemy air defenses since 1985.
