Strike Fighter Squadron 136 (VFA-136), the "Knighthawks," was established on July 1, 1985, at NAS Lemoore, California, as one of the Navy's first F/A-18C Hornet squadrons. The Knighthawks have since transitioned to the F/A-18E Super Hornet and deployed with multiple carrier air wings in support of Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and Inherent Resolve. Based at NAS Lemoore under Commander, Strike Fighter Wing Pacific, VFA-136 has earned multiple Battle Efficiency Awards, safety commendations, and the Admiral Clarence Wade McClusky Award for outstanding carrier air wing strike fighter squadron. The Knighthawks are a proven combat squadron in the Pacific Fleet's strike fighter community.
