Activated on 1 May 1972 as Marine Helicopter Training Squadron 204, the unit spent decades building the Marine Corps' rotary-wing training foundation, first producing CH-46 Sea Knight and CH-53 Sea Stallion crews, then becoming the single-site Fleet Readiness Squadron for the entire CH-46E community before transitioning to the Osprey mission in 1999.
