Official VMM-163 Ridge Runners St.Patricks Day Patch - Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (VMM-163) Ridge Runners St. Patrick's Day Officially Licensed Embroidered Patch.

Ridge Runners spirit, green and proud, honoring the squadron that earned its name in the mountains of Japan and carried it across every ocean and conflict since 1951.

VMM-163 traces its lineage to December 1, 1951, when it was commissioned as Marine Helicopter Transport Squadron 163 at Marine Corps Air Station Santa Ana, California. The squadron earned its original nickname, Ridge Runners, during typhoon rescue and relief operations in the rugged mountainous terrain surrounding Hanshin, Japan, following Typhoon Tess in September 1953. That name stuck through Korea, Vietnam, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and decades of MEU deployments across the Pacific and Central Command theaters. In 2015 the squadron officially adopted the additional moniker Evil Eyes, a call sign rooted in the distinctive eyes painted on aircraft since 1965 on the recommendation of the squadron's intelligence officer during Vietnam operations. Today VMM-163 flies the MV-22B Osprey under Marine Aircraft Group 16 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at MCAS Miramar, California, providing assault support transport of combat troops, supplies, and equipment during expeditionary and combined operations. The St. Patrick's Day edition of this embroidered patch gives that deep unit identity a seasonal, celebratory expression that Ridge Runners alumni and supporters recognize immediately as their own.

Perfect for VMM-163 Ridge Runners veterans and active-duty members, HMM-163 alumni, MV-22B Osprey aircrew and maintainers, MAG-16 and 3rd MAW supporters, Marine aviation collectors, St. Patrick's Day military event displays, shadow boxes, patch panels, reunion tables, and anyone who wants a unit-specific seasonal patch that carries real squadron history rather than generic holiday imagery.

Ridge Runners lineage, stitched in green, worn with the pride of every mountain, ridgeline, and flight deck the squadron has ever called its own.
