Official VMM-162 Baby Eagle Patch - Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 162 (VMM-162) Golden Eagles MV-22B Osprey Embroidered Patch.

Golden Eagles identity, deep assault support roots, and more than seven decades of Marine aviation heritage stitched into one embroidered piece.

VMM-162 traces its lineage to 30 June 1951, when it was commissioned at Marine Corps Air Facility Santa Ana, California, as one of the earliest helicopter transport squadrons in the Marine Corps. In February 1952, the squadron made amphibious warfare history during Operation Lex Baker I by airlifting a combat-equipped company from an escort carrier to shore in the first ship-to-shore helicopter movement ever attempted at that scale. Redesignated VMM-162 after transitioning to the MV-22B Osprey, the squadron reactivated on 31 August 2006 as the second operational Osprey squadron in the Marine Corps and went on to deploy to Iraq, serve as the aviation combat element of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, and divert to Haiti following the 2010 earthquake as part of Operation Unified Response, with its Ospreys becoming the first ever used for a humanitarian mission. Based at Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina, under Marine Aircraft Group 26 and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, the Golden Eagles earned recognition as Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron of the Year during their 2023 to 2024 deployment with the 26th MEU. The embroidered format captures that layered identity with the kind of detail and durability that holds up on flight gear, shadow boxes, patch panels, and reunion displays.

Perfect For: VMM-162 veterans and active-duty Marines, MV-22B Osprey crew members and maintainers, Golden Eagles alumni, Marine Aircraft Group 26 collectors, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing enthusiasts, MEU aviation combat element supporters, MCAS New River community members, military patch board builders, shadow box and cruise book displays, reunion gifts, and anyone preserving the story of Marine tiltrotor assault support from its earliest helicopter roots through modern expeditionary operations.

Golden Eagles lineage, carried from the first ship-to-shore lift to the Osprey era and beyond.
