Marine Wing Communications Squadron 38, the Red Lightning, provides the tactical communications infrastructure for Marine Air Control Group 38 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. The squadron establishes, operates, and maintains the ground-to-ground and ground-to-air communications networks that link the Tactical Air Operations Center, Direct Air Support Center, and aviation units together into a cohesive command and control system. MWCS-38 Marines operate satellite communications, data links, tactical telephone systems, and radio networks across the battlespace, ensuring that every piece of the Marine Air Command and Control System can communicate.
