Marine Tactical Air Control Squadron 48 served within the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, providing reserve tactical air command center capability. When activated, MTACS-48 Marines operated the Tactical Air Command Center, coordinating the planning, tasking, and execution of aviation missions in support of the MAGTF. The squadron's reserve air command and control specialists maintained proficiency in the complex systems and procedures needed to direct the air war.
