Officially Licensed Marine Aviation Support Squadron MASS-2 Patch - Marine Air Support Squadron 2 (MASS-2) Direct Air Support Center Command and Control Embroidered Patch, officially licensed for the III Marine Expeditionary Force.
Radar Raiders pride, Indo-Pacific vigilance, and the oldest command and control legacy in Marine Corps aviation history stitched into one embroidered emblem.
MASS-2 is the oldest and most decorated aviation command and control unit in the Marine Corps, activated on 1 January 1943 and forged across three major conflicts. The squadron served as the senior air defense headquarters during the Battle of Okinawa in World War II, became the first aviation command and control unit to arrive in Korea with the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade in August 1950, and deployed multiple Direct Air Support Centers and Air Support Radar Teams throughout Vietnam from 1965 to 1973. Known as the Radar Raiders with the motto Support and Protect, MASS-2 operates today from Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, as part of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and Marine Air Control Group 18. The squadron provides DASC capabilities that control and coordinate aircraft operating in direct support of Marine Air-Ground Task Force ground forces across the Western Pacific, and in 2023 incorporated a Tactical Air Command Center Company to strengthen its role as the senior MAGTF air command and control agency for III MEF. That unbroken lineage from Pacific island campaigns to modern Indo-Pacific deterrence gives this officially licensed patch a depth of unit history that sets it apart from generic aviation memorabilia.
Perfect For: MASS-2 veterans and alumni, Marine Air Control Group 18 collectors, III Marine Expeditionary Force supporters, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing enthusiasts, DASC and ASRT operators, MCAS Futenma station veterans, Okinawa-based Marine families, shadow box builders, unit reunion gifts, challenge coin and patch board displays, and anyone assembling a serious Marine Corps command and control or aviation heritage collection.
Radar Raiders heritage, officially licensed and stitched for the boards, boxes, and collections that honor eighty years of Marine air-ground integration.
