MALS-39 provides intermediate-level maintenance, supply support, and aviation logistics to all squadrons assigned to MAG-39, ensuring that AH-1Z Vipers, UH-1Y Venoms, MV-22B Ospreys, and CH-53E Super Stallions remain mission-capable for the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.

The Hellhounds are the largest squadron in MAG-39 by personnel count, employing hundreds of Marines across a wide range of aviation maintenance specialties — from avionics and airframes to powerplants, ordnance, and supply chain management.
