MALS-31 Stingers — USMC Embroidered Patch
Stingers of Beaufort
The Stingers of MALS-31 keep the sharp end of Marine fighter aviation lethal and ready. At MCAS Beaufort, this squadron provides the maintenance, supply, and ordnance expertise that ensures MAG-31's fighter attack squadrons can deploy and strike on a moment's notice. This officially licensed patch represents aviation logistics at its finest.
First activated as Headquarters Squadron 31 in February 1943, the unit deployed to the Pacific and supported MAG-31 through the Battle of Okinawa. Ground personnel went ashore on 3 April 1945, and the squadron became the first Marine land-based maintenance unit in the Japanese homeland. Redesignated MALS-31 in October 1988, the Stingers successfully transformed their support mission from F-4 Phantom IIs to F/A-18 Hornets and continue to evolve with the transition to the F-35B and F-35C Lightning II. The squadron provides intermediate-level maintenance, avionics, supply, and ordnance support to all MAG-31 squadrons at MCAS Beaufort under the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing.
Perfect For:
MALS-31 Stingers veterans and active duty Marines, MAG-31 personnel, MCAS Beaufort community, F-35 maintenance Marines, and fighter aviation logistics collectors.
