This officially licensed patch honors the citizen Marines who served with distinction under the MAG-46 colors.
As part of the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Aircraft Group 46 provided essential reserve helicopter aviation capability from the West Coast. The group's squadrons maintained the same high standards of readiness as their active duty counterparts, regularly participating in training exercises, deployments, and real-world operations. MAG-46 Marines answered the call during Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom, proving that reserve helicopter crews could integrate seamlessly into combat operations. Though the group eventually cased its colors, its legacy lives on in the Marines who served and the units that absorbed its squadrons.
