Marine Aircraft Group MAG-31 — USMC Embroidered Patch
Southern Fighter Power
MAG-31 has been the premier Marine fighter group on the East Coast for decades, producing combat-ready fighter attack squadrons that deploy worldwide at a moment's notice. From the tropical heat of Beaufort to the combat skies of Iraq and Afghanistan, this group's aviators have answered every call.
After distinguished World War II service at Okinawa where the group was the first Marine land-based MAG in the Japanese homeland, MAG-31 was reactivated on 17 March 1952 at MCAS Cherry Point before moving to MCAS Miami as part of the 3rd MAW. The group was decommissioned again in 1959 before final reactivation on 1 November 1961. Since then, MAG-31 has been the cornerstone of Marine fighter attack aviation on the East Coast, operating from MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina. The group's squadrons have deployed in support of every major operation, carrying the F/A-18 Hornet and now transitioning to the F-35B/C Lightning II as the future of Marine tactical aviation.
Perfect For:
MAG-31 veterans and active duty Marines, F/A-18 Hornet and F-35 Lightning II aviators, 2nd MAW personnel, MCAS Beaufort community, and fighter aviation patch collectors.
East Coast Eagles.
