Marine Aircraft Group MAG-26 — USMC Embroidered Patch
Spearhead of Assault Support
MAG-26 is synonymous with getting Marines where they need to be, when they need to be there. Whether it was the beaches of Beirut, the deserts of Kuwait, or the mountains of Afghanistan, this group's aircraft have been the lifeline of Marine ground forces for over seven decades. This officially licensed variant patch represents the group's enduring legacy.
From its commissioning in 1952 at MCAS Cherry Point, MAG-26 has participated in virtually every major Marine Corps operation and humanitarian mission. Elements of the group participated in Operation Provide Comfort in northern Iraq, Operation Victor Squared at Guantanamo Bay, and Operation Deny Flight over the former Yugoslavia. In 1995, MAG-26 achieved multiple firsts: HMH-461 became the first fleet squadron to perform hover in-flight refueling astern a naval vessel, and HMLA-167 was the first squadron to employ the Night Targeting System on the AH-1W SuperCobra. In 2009, the group assumed primary command of aviation support in Iraq's Al Anbar Province. MAG-26 has consistently operated at surge capacity, supporting what amounts to three composite squadrons at any given time.
Perfect For:
MAG-26 veterans, 2nd MAW aircrew and ground support Marines, MCAS New River community members, MV-22 Osprey pilots, and military patch collectors.
