Marine Aircraft Group MAG-26 — USMC Embroidered Patch
Assault Support Warriors
When the call comes and Marines need to hit the ground running, MAG-26 is in the air. As one of the most heavily tasked and deployed units in the Marine Corps, this group has been delivering Marines into harm's way since the earliest days of Marine helicopter aviation. This officially licensed patch represents that relentless commitment.
Commissioned on 16 June 1952 at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, MAG-26 was born to fill the Marine Corps' need for an expeditionary, amphibious helicopter force. The group's storied history includes participation in the Cuban Missile Crisis, intervention in the Dominican Republic, the Iranian hostage rescue attempt, peacekeeping in Beirut, Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada, and Hurricane Hugo relief. In December 1990, MAG-26 relocated to Saudi Arabia, supporting the liberation of Kuwait during Desert Storm with a composite force of nine squadrons. The group went on to support operations in Somalia, Haiti, the former Yugoslavia, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Now based at MCAS New River with MV-22 Osprey squadrons, MAG-26 remains the backbone of 2nd MAW assault support.
Perfect For:
MAG-26 veterans and active duty Marines, MV-22 Osprey community members, 2nd MAW personnel, MCAS New River community, and Marine Corps aviation heritage collectors.
Always Ready, Always There.
