MACS-9 provided the air surveillance radar coverage and intercept control that protected the Marine Air-Ground Task Force from airborne threats. This officially licensed patch represents the Marines who operated the radars and directed the air battle.
Marine Air Control Squadron 9 operated tactical radar systems within the Marine Air Command and Control System, providing continuous air surveillance, aircraft identification, and intercept control for the MAGTF. MACS-9 Marines fed critical radar data into the Tactical Air Operations Center, enabling commanders to maintain a comprehensive air picture and direct fighter aircraft against hostile threats. The squadron's radar operators and controllers were the first line of air defense for the entire task force.
