Intermediate Maintenance DET El Toro — Embroidered Patch
El Toro's Maintenance Legacy
Before MCAS El Toro closed its gates for good, its Intermediate Maintenance Detachment was keeping Marine aircraft in the fight with world-class repair capability. This patch represents the skilled technicians who served at one of Marine aviation's most legendary air stations.
MCAS El Toro, located in Orange County, California, was once the crown jewel of West Coast Marine aviation. The Intermediate Maintenance Detachment provided the critical depot-level repair and overhaul capability that kept Marine aircraft from multiple MAGs mission-ready. From engine teardowns and avionics repairs to structural overhauls and component testing, the Marines and civilians of the I-Level DET at El Toro were among the most skilled aviation technicians in the Marine Corps. Though El Toro was closed as part of the Base Realignment and Closure process in 1999, its maintenance legacy lives on in the Marines who served there.
Perfect For:
MCAS El Toro veterans, Marine aviation intermediate maintenance personnel, 3rd MAW maintenance Marines, and El Toro heritage collectors.
El Toro — Maintenance Excellence.
