H&MS-26 — USMC Embroidered Patch
Patriots of Assault Support
H&MS-26 has been at the center of every major MAG-26 deployment since 1952, providing the maintenance muscle that keeps assault support helicopters and tiltrotors in the air. From the Cuban Missile Crisis to Desert Storm to Iraq, this squadron's Marines have answered the call alongside their flying counterparts. This patch honors that legacy.
Activated alongside MAG-26 in 1952 at MCAS Cherry Point, H&MS-26 relocated to MCAS New River in 1954 and has been the maintenance backbone of Marine assault support ever since. The squadron deployed to the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile Crisis, sent detachments to the Dominican Republic, supported peacekeeping in Beirut, and participated in Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada. In 1988, H&MS-26 participated in the largest helo-borne amphibious landing to date aboard USS Tarawa and USS Valley Forge. Redesignated MALS-26 — the "Patriots" — in 1988, the unit supported Desert Storm, operations in Somalia, Haiti, and the former Yugoslavia, and was selected as 2nd MAW's MALS of the Year.
Perfect For:
H&MS-26 and MALS-26 veterans, MAG-26 Marines, MCAS New River community, and Marine aviation logistics heritage collectors.
